Whilst staying in Italy, my family and I decided to explore Tuscany, the region in central Italy in which we were staying. Its diverse natural landscape encompasses the rugged Apennine Mountains, the island of Elba’s beaches on the Tyrrhenian Sea and Chianti’s olive groves and vineyards.

Chianti wine is one of the most appreciated wines around the world, so of course we had to try it to see if this statement was true. On our excursion, we were taken to two vineyards and were given a taste of a variety of white and red wines. We also tried olive oils and balsamic vinegar, grown also at the vineyards, accompanied by locally sourced bread.

The wine in chianti is produced with at least 100% Sangiovese grapes, if not, 80% are used with the 20% a blend of Cabernet, Merlot or Syrah (other red wines), to soften the finished wine.
